Yesterday, I found myself wandering around loudly singing the song Tomorrow from the hit musical Annie (check those lyrics out). It’s not the first time that song has come ‘into my head’.

But today, after chatting to some of the folk over at Joshua Tree via Skype, I was guided VERY strongly to this song. It was huge favourite of mine when I was 11, and when I really re-listened to the lyrics, it made perfect sense for this special energetic 2013 September Equinox weekend.

So here it is… The Morning After, sung by Maureen McGovern.

There’s also another clip in which Maureen sings live and introduces the song with the following words: “As JFK once said: ‘we are not here to curse the darkness; we are here to light a candle’”…before she sings: “It’s not too late…” You can find that clip here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlB2Xe5bVz4

The Morning After  – Performed by Maureen McGovern

Lyrics and Music Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn

There’s got to be a morning after If we can hold on through the night We have a chance to find the sunshine Let’s keep on lookin’ for the light

Oh, can’t you see the morning after It’s waiting right outside the storm Why don’t we cross the bridge together And find a place that’s safe and warm

It’s not too late, we should be giving Only with love can we climb It’s not too late, not while we’re living Let’s put our hands out in time

There’s got to be a morning after We’re moving closer to the shore I know we’ll be there by tomorrow And we’ll escape the darkness We won’t be searchin’ any more

There’s got to be a morning after (There’s got to be a morning after) There’s got to be a morning after (There’s got to be a morning after) There’s got to be a morning after (There’s got to be a morning after) There’s got to be a morning after (There’s got to be a morning after) There’s got to be a morning after
